However, the FileTouch.exe program shipped with Datizer must not be used for commercial purposes. NOTE! The program requires the FileTouch program by SoftTree Technologies In, that program comes with Datizer: FileTouch verion 1.00 Copyright (c) 2003 SoftTree Technologies, Inc. All rights reserved. You can get more information about using the FileTouch program by typing "FileTouch /?" at the command line. There are also more info about the program at SoftTree Technologies' home page. --------------------------- What can I do with Datizer? --------------------------- Many video packing programs are not able to keep the original file date&time stamp when packing videos, but set the current date to the file packed. Datizer is a program, that is done just for you, if you want to keep the original file date stamp. Of course, you can also use Datizer for image files and any other file type. There are also several programs on the Internet to set the file date&time, but they are often commercial and has a trial period of some ten days. They are quite poor, because with them, you must separately set the time stamp for each file. With Datizer, you can perform it, with a few clicks! You can even set the date either for each file in the directory or for the files you have chosen. There is also an option, that lets you choose a proper filter (*.jpg, *.avi, *.wmv, *.gif, ...) for the files you want to catch the dates from. -------------------------- How can I use the program? -------------------------- Usage: ---------------- 1. Run Datizer 1.0. 2. Choose the directory from the folder tree, where the files, you want to update, are. 3. Choose the filter you prefer (Filters let you choose, what kind of files you want to see in the file list. If you, for example, want to see all the files in the dir, set the filter to "*.*"). 4. In the file list, choose the files, that you want to copy the date stamps from. 5. Then, in the "Dest file"-box, choose the type of the file names, you want the date stamps to be copied to. It can, for example, be *.wmv. In that case, the date stamps will be copied from the files chosen, to the files with wmv-extension (*-mark means the name of the file without its extension (If the source file name, for example, is "Landscape.jpg", then the dest file should be "Landscape.wmv")). NOTE! Dest file must have the same name as the source file (except the filename extension must be different) and dest file must be in the same directory. 6. Finally, click the "Copy date stamps", and it starts to copy the file date&time stamps. Usage with a complete example: ------------------------------ You have a file "On the sea.avi" in your directory, that file takes 52 megbytes. And we wish to pack this file to the WMV-format, in order to it would take a little bit hard drive space. Well, we go and pack this file with some video packing program and the video will be stored in a separate file with the name "On the sea.wmv". When we check the date of the wmv-file, we'll see the current date (==the date, when the video was packed). So, we should set the date from our AVI-file. If we have several files, it's quite hard to set separately the date stamps for each file. This is why Datizer is invented. With Datizer, we can copy the date stamp (and time stamp) from the file with AVI-extension to the file with almost the same file name, except it has another extension, WMV. In order to set the date stamp for this file, we should do thus: 1. Run Datizer. 2. Go to the directory, in which the files "On the sea.avi" and "On the sea.wmv" are. 3. Choose the filter "*.avi" and the dest fie "*.wmv". 4. Click the "Copy date stamps" button. -------- Feedback -------- If you find a bug, please report it to the following email address: kajouni at mbnet dot fi So we can try to solve the problem. *********** end of file
